Course for students on Communication and Conflict Resolution Offered to Schools

Target group: Tailored to fit either Upper Secondary or Lower Secondary
Time: Once a week for one term/ 8-12 meetings. 1.5-2 hr (recommended)

Are you the hothead in your family? Are you constantly getting angry or annoyed with your surroundings and going into any discussion to win? Or are you a person who feels better going along with other people's wishes than you do demanding to get your way? Or perhaps you’re the one others turn to when they are in a conflict? 

How you meet conflict of interest and difference of opinion with dignity, respect and an acceptable outcome are based on both your skills, values and personality. In this course, you will improve your communication by practice, whether your goal is to improve your personal relationships, or to be a successful leader.

You will train through fun workshops, games and reflective activities, and we guarantee that you will see some of your relationships in a new light.

If you want to improve your communication skills and understanding of your own and others reactions in disagreements or conflicts of interest, this is for you!

Methods used:

The methods in the course are peer driven processes with PLA (Participatory Learning Action), NVC (Rosenbergs method of non-violent communication), utilizing different tools based on the resources, interests and issues the students bring to attention.

About the organizer:

The organizer, Lene Mordal, is originally from Norway. She has worked for over two decades with youth empowerment in different settings with diverse groups of both marginalized youth, high achieving and at-risk youth. With her background in psychology and social work, she has worked on both grass root and structural levels for diversity, equality and with crime prevention. In her last project, she was working with youth to expand the space for expression and free speech, cultivate a “community for disagreement” and support youth to be the force against polarization.
